On Melbourne Cup day, 2007, ROOT! barely fit on the stage at the Retreat Hotel. DC Root countered the small stage by roaming into the crowd and onto furniture. The Hotel countered again by forcing patrons to walk into his mic cord. The crowd countered that by lifting it over peoples heads.

T-shirts were on sale for the first time that night. Olive coloured with the "Root" cowboy exlaiming the name of the band. The reverse side read either "Who spells Luna Park in reverse?" or "Who put the turd in Saturday?"
