Surface Paradise trailer

Sexy everywhere.
Sexy up the river where it flows among green AETS[1] and meadows.
Sexy down the river where it rolls, defiled, among the tears of shipping and the waterside pollutions of a great and clean city.
Sexy in the featureless, genderless, self frosting glass toilet doors.
Sexy in the humble ground floor key-cutters cubicle.
Sexy in the powerpoint presentation and the workflow chart and the mission statement.
Sexy in the opinion and truth.
Sexy in everything but sex.
Chance people on the bridges, peeping over the parapets into a nether-sky of sexy, with sexy all around 'em as if they were up in a balloon and hanging in the misty clouds.
This is the Surface Paradise. Where even the truth is privatized.

Mums and dads, do you hear what I say?
In the Surface Paradise?

This is the Surface Paradise.
Surface Paradise - its not a place. It's ROOT!'s new garage, punk, electro, hip-hop, country, musique concrète[2] fifteen-track song-cycle.

I, I'm ashamed to admit
I get a little bit, you know, sort of, emo

Joe blogs, although he's got nothing to say

Yeah, I fought the groove police just by being around

Hanging onto my keyring,
My supermodel plaything
Who I'm currently dating
Well, until next ratings

There goes Rove[3] on the phone to the States
With his caravan trailing, peeling him grapes
And the Aussie chick, my radio sidekick
With a NIDA degree, so she can act thick

This is the Surface Paradise.
Surface Paradise, out July 30. Get yours now.
'Cause everybody knows - you are what you buy.

What are you looking at? Don't be smart!
What are you looking at? Don't be smart!
What are you looking at?

Do you let the squeeky wheel get the oil?
Do you say perception is reality?
Do you suffer a fool if she's a pretty girl?
Do you promote youth over ability?
Do you swap substance for substances?
Do you plum the depths of your shallowness?
Do you think this cold thing is tall poppy syndrome?
[4]
Then step inside, enjoy the ride. you'll feel right at home.

Information

1) Briefly uploaded to the ROOT! MySpace page, June 25, 2009. Taken down for unknown reasons.
2) Contains samples from Orange, Emo, Joe Bloggs Blogs, I Fought The Groove Police And The Groove Police Won, and other songs, whose titles are not yet known.

Notes

1) A possible reference to the Australian Emissions Trading Scheme, and its criticised potentially detrimental environmental impact. If you know better, please contact.
2) Musique concrète is a largely abstract form of music created by collecting various audio samples, manipulating them to some degree, then arranging them. The results are typically non-music in the traditional sense, but more in an aesthetic sense.
3) Rove McManus is host of Rove Live, a long running Australian talk-show.
4) "This cold thing" is probably a reference to Swine Flu. Tall poppy syndrome is where one person holds himself higher than his surroundings, and is chastised for thinking above his station. It can be described as a dislike for pomposity, and a regard for all to be of equal stature.
