The ROOT! Compendium - Old news - July, 2007
July 31, 2007
ROOT! ALBUM DELAY: In dramatic breaking news ROOT! have announced that, due to problems at the mixing stage, first pressings of the debut album "ROOT SUPPOSED HE WAS OUT OF THE QUESTION" will no longer be available in time to purchase this week at the Espy. It comes as a bitter blow to the band, who were hoping to shift at least 7 copies at Friday night's show. "ROOT SUPPOSED HE WAS OUT OF THE QUESTION" now threatens to become one of rock's great unfinished albums, alongside "Smile", "Chinese Democracy" and Nickleback's legendary "Neitsche Explained". Rumours abound that famously reclusive album producer Meek Joe pulled the pin on the sessions at the 11th hour, claiming that Sony BMG were "ripping off his ideas" after he heard a test pressing of Shakira's new album "Did I Just Allude To Fellatio?" The group have assured the public that "ROOT SUPPOSED HE WAS OUT OF THE QUESTION" has not been shelved, and will be available shortly.

ROOT! announcement!
STOP PRESS: the new ROOT! album "Root Supposed He Was Out Of The Question" is in production. Special "first press" copies will available for sale at next Friday's show - ROOT! play the Espy front bar next Friday August 3rd from 9.15pm FREE! Online sales and shop distribution are planned. But if you'd like to get your hands on a copy of the debut ROOT! album next week, ROOT! will be selling copies immediately after the show. The album features "I Wish I Was Tex Perkins" "Shazza And Michelle" "The Ballad Of The Poowong Magpies" and more - plus the lonesome suburban Prairie howl of a Masport 2-stroke motor mower.

A vigilant pair of ears has picked up that the recently uploaded Shazza and Michelle is not the same version as the one which was taken down.
Some of the more striking differences are its over all lower volume, it is three seconds longer (the addition of three seconds silence at the end; hardly interesting) and different instrumentation through out most of the track, most notably the drums. For a full list of the changes, see the Shazza and Michelle page.
July 13, 2007
Apparently due to popular demand - "I was listening to that everyday," claimed one fan - Shazza and Michelle reappeared on the ROOT! myspace yesterday.
July 10, 2007
A new song has been released (yesterday, July 9) by ROOT! titled I Wish I Was Tex Perkins it is said to be off their "forthcoming release..."
Also, both Introducing ROOT! and Shazza and Michelle were taken down.
