The ROOT! Compendium - Old news - October, 2008
October 27, 2008
Well, about a thousand years ago (October 11) ROOT! played the Sounds of Spring festival in Queensland. By all accounts, it was a magical affair with a candle-lit supper followed by a nice walk. That might not be true, because most people are keeping secrets about that gig. Please, speak up! Be heard! And - oh, look: Videos.
Also of note this month was the unveiling of the forthcoming ROOT! album, in name only. On or just prior to the 14th of October, DC wrote this message via Facebook:
Hello. Spring is here. Blossom in the air. A youthful zest in the undergarment. And ROOT! celebrate 2008 in their final Melbourne show for the year. See ROOT! play their forthcoming album "Root Is The Money Of All Evil" at everybody's favourite inner city venue. New songs... new, slightly crappy insights... and just quietly, someone's birthday... Why take a chance on any other kind of entertainment when you know ROOT! will start your weekend with a lasting smile... Tickets: $12+bf ($15 at the door if still available). Tickets available from NSC Box Office Monday - Saturday 2.00 - 6.00pm (301 High St, Northcote), on 9486 1677 and online at www.northcotesocialclub.com
And mere fractions of an hour ago (on October 27) DC Root himself penned the latest issue of the ROOT! Mailing List where the album title was mentioned again. Rumours of it being called Surface Paradise seem to have up and disappeared.
October 2, 2008
Just announced are two brand new festival gigs for Melbourne fans. ROOT! will be playing on not one, but two days of the Queenscliff Music Festival. The first is at 5pm, Saturday November 29 and the second will be 2pm the following day, Sunday November 30, 2008.
